The over $1.4T that is spent on medical care represents about 1/7 of the U.S. economy and is associated with treating the symptoms of illness and very little to do with preventing illness or making people feel stronger or healthier.
There is a brand new industry that has been emerging over a few years that has nothing to do with sickness and is all about creating wellness. It is for people who are already well and want to stay well, slow down the aging process, or keep from becoming customers of the sickness business.
A short 10-15 years ago, it would have been tough to go into the wellness industry because quite simply, there would have been no wellness industry.
We have always had the desire to live better and longer however the wellness industry showed up in the past decade due to technology.
Who would have imagined that we needed a product to address sexual performance for 70 year olds as geriatric impotency is not a medical problem about which society had a lot of concerns. Yet it became a $10B business and the whole world has Viagra jokes when the product hit the market in 1998.
Due to additional advances in technology, more products such as Rogaine for hair growth, cosmetic dentistry, elective plastic surgery, and antioxidants to enhance the quality of life and slow down the aging process, have emerged.
Fitness club memberships add up to more than $24B, personal trainers add up to more than $12B, and the purchases of vitamins and food supplements total more than $70B.
When you add these up and add several other facets and aspects of wellness, you will find that wellness is already over a $300B industry. Many forecast that over the next decade, the wellness industry will total over $1T.
One major reason that our health care system today is in such terrible shape is that it delivers very little in consumer choice. In most cases it sells the consumer a product that may or may not be the best for that consumer’s ailment because the doctors prescribe what they have been give incentives to prescribe.
The Internet and home-based direct selling businesses that focus on the wellness industry, will empower the consumer by providing information and enable many to talk with other people so they can learn everything there is to know about the options available to them.
This new and emerging wellness industry is a super-growth industry that has barely gotten started. It is the new game in town and is all about educating consumers about products and services that will improve their lives.
In previous posts on this blog, longevity, oxidative stress, and the aging process have been presented. The master regulator of the aging process is Nrf2 and in this post, more information will be provided about this biochemical approach to anti-aging.
Protandim works differently than any other conventional antioxidant or antiaging supplement because it signals the body to do what it is already programmed to do; tell the DNA to not only increase the production of antioxidant enzymes like SOD (Super Oxide Dismutase) and Catalase but to also activate Nrf2. Nuclear factory-erythroid-2-related factor 2, Nfr2, turns on defensive and detoxifying antioxidant enzymes that protect against cellular damage. It up-regulates stress-responsive and cytoprotective enzymes and proteins, survival genes that help fight stress and protect against inflammation and fibrosis. This is important because oxidative stress and inflammation are constant features of many chronic diseases and complication..
Many ask what is inside Protandim. It is comprised of five potent botanicals used in ancient India and China for thousands of years – ingredients selected because they provide 1500% greater synergy working together, or in tandem, than what they are able to achieve on their own. Hence the name Protandim and here is a brief description of each item.
Milk Thistle Extract (Seed) – Milk thistle is a flowering plant of the daisy family. Native to the Mediterranean regions of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, its seeds have been used for 2,000 years to treat chronic liver disease and to protect the liver against toxins. Increasing research is being undertaken on the physiological effects, therapeutic properties, and possible medical uses of milk thistle.
Bacopa Extract (Aerial Part) – Bacopa herb, commonly grown in marshy areas throughout India, has been touted for its cognitive enhancing effects for centuries. It posses strong antioxidant properties, protects mental function, and helps improve learning skills.
Ashwagandha (Root) – Ashwagandha root, herb of the ages from the traditional medicine of India, is considered an “adaptogen”, a term used to describe herbs that improve physical energy and athletic ability, increase immunity to colds and infections, and increase sexual capacity and fertility. Ashwagandha helps boost the immune system, helps alleviate stress, and is also used to treat inflammation, improve memory, and provide a rich source of antioxidants.
Green Tea Extract (Leaf) – Green tea originates from China and is associated with many cultures in Asia and the Middle East. It has been the subject of many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of its long-purported health benefits. Many people believe green tea helps lower the chance of heart disease and of developing certain types of cancer due to flavonoids, a group of phytochemicals in most plant products that are responsible for such health effects as antioxidative and anticarcinogenic functions.
Turmeric Extract (Rhizome) – Turmeric has always been an important part of Chinese herbal medicine and has also been used in India for 2,500 years. Truly, the health benefits of turmeric have been slowly revealing themselves over the centuries. This natural food is believed by many to support liver health, to help prevent bad cholesterol, and it is currently being studied for its ability to prevent and block the growth of tumors. Turmeric has attracted the attention of researchers in the fields of Alzheimer’s disease, memory deficits, arthritis, cancer (including breast cancer) and diabetes. It possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and its antioxidant power is so effective it actually helps preserve the shelf life of foods to which it is added.
Protandim is protected for an extended period over time, at least 20 years, because it is protected by four patents that were filled in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011.
As mentioned in a previous posts on this blog, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Chief Medical Correspondent at CNN, has reported that “Practical Immortality may now be within our grasp.”
So now the question becomes, “how do we slow the rate of aging and avoid the frailty that would make longevity less desirable?”
With antioxidant supplements, we can slow our rate of aging; with a nutrition and fitness routine, we can avoid frailty and improve our health; and with an industry leading home business opportunity, we can make great money and create financial wealth.
